Grace Ellen Stone, (81), of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2017. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Carl Lee Stone Sr; mother, Maud Rachel Wood; father, Fitzue Sellers Wood; and companion, Bill Jones.
"Sister", Grace Ellen Stone was brought into this world by her loving parents on August 26th, 1935 in Seminole, OK. Grace attended Crooked Oak School District where she graduated in 1952. Soon thereafter, she began a family bearing four children in a short span of five years.
Grace was a loving, devoted and full-time working mother, often supporting herself and her four children through her love of music. For thirty years, Grace performed in Oklahoma City's top restaurants and piano bars, such as Glen's Hik'ry Inn, Juniors, and The Wildcatter Club. "Gracie" performed alongside Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie in Oklahoma City, and recorded her own albums in Crystal Gale's studio in Nashville. Gracie's talent earned a highly respected reputation amongst Oklahoma's political leaders.
Grace extended her love, marrying Carl Lee Stone Sr in September of 1977. The two resided in Newcastle until 1987, when they retired to Lake Texoma to open and operate Stone Ford New Holland. The two lived blissfully in love through these years until a tragic accident took Carl Lee Sr in 2000.
Life time friend, Bill Jones, would later bring companionship and solitude for Grace until he too passed. After all her loves and losses, Grace met Gayla Robinson, who would become a blessing and best friend to her until her last day of life, and Gayla's son Kacey, who loved Grace like a grandmother.
For the last six years, Grace lived in a "dollhouse" that faced her daughter's pool. "G-G" enjoyed her favorite movies and spending time on her porch, watching her great grandchildren swim and play. Grace loved God and reading the bible, music, dolls, telling long stories, making people laugh, talking on the phone, her pets Christine and presently Tessa. Grace believed family was the most important part of life. In her presence, every room was filled with love and laughter.
Grace Stone is survived by her four children, Mark Bayless, Robin Thronesberry, Wendy Decker, Jeff Bayless; Her brothers, "Jake" James Roger Wood and Tom Wood; 20 grandchildren and an abundance of great grand-children, nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones.
